HTC Hero crowned phone of the yearHTC - the big winner at the Global Mobile Awards

The HTC Hero was announced as the best mobile handset of the year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The phone, a 3.2 inch touchscreen model that runs on the Android operating system, beat four other nominees for the prestigious title – the Samsung Star, Nokia N97 mini, BlackBerry Bold 9700 and Samsung Omnia HD.

Celebrated writer, actor and self-confessed technophile Stephen Fry hosted the awards ceremony, which was run by the GSM Association.
Orange picked up the technology breakthrough award at the ceremony for its HD voice technology, defeating the Snapdragon processor and the new Opera Mini browser for the title. The Last City was unveiled as the new mobile game of the year.
