Hot Car Deals, 9 March 2010Great savings on previous Astra and new Jaguar XJ

09 March 2010

Vauxhall Astra

Save £8k on previous shape Astra

Having recently returned from the Geneva Motor Show, Which? Car has been busy scouring the internet to find the best hot car deals on the market.

We've found great savings on cars barely off the Geneva show stand, to previous generation models going for an absolute steal.

Over £8,200 off old-shape Vauxhall Astra

The previous shape Vauxhall Astra continues to haunt dealerships throughout the land and, if you’re prepared to accept previous generation technology, continues to represent great value motoring.

UK Car Discount is offering reductions of £8,240 on 1.9-litre CDTi 150 turbodiesels in SRi specification - complete with sporty ‘exterior pack’ bodystyling. Yours for £14,850.

The broker is also offering 1.7 CDTi 110 models in frugal Ecoflex Club specification for £13,845 (a £6,220 saving), and 1.9 CDTi 120 SXi cars at £13,835 (a £6,770 saving).

All are brand new unregistered five-door models, complete with a full manufacturer warranty.

Saab 9-3

Second hand Saab 9-3 represents great value

Save over £11k on pre-owned Saab 9-3 diesels

Now that the future of Saab is relatively secure, it might just be the perfect time to take advantage of the current bargain pricing.

We’ve already seen £7-£8,000 savings on ‘new’ Saab 9-3 stock, but what about buying used? Well, to give you a clue, Car Provider is expecting delivery of some 09-plated cars with 20-24,000 miles, which will be priced from just £12,995.

These cars are 9-3 1.9 ‘TiD 150’ turbodiesel saloons in Linear SE specification with automatic gearbox - and the price represents a saving of £11,061 compared to what they cost new.

Sporty Toyota Yaris SR at under £9,000

It’s hard to believe that Toyota made a ‘sporty’ Yaris - and many who’ve driven this car suggest it still hasn’t - but the 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol SR was the company’s best effort.

It’s no longer offered in the Yaris range, which is firmly focused on frugal, low-cost motoring these days, but Motorpoint has several stock examples on 09 registration plates with around 12,000 miles on the clock, going for £8,999.

This represents a £4,003 saving over the original list price, and is in fact £1,257 less than the recommended retail price of a new entry-level Yaris T2 1.0-litre petrol.

Jaguar XJ

5% saving on new Jag XJ is better than nothing

5% discount on all brand new Jaguar XJ

Finally, Which? will be bringing you a first drive of the all-new Jaguar XJ very shortly. With its radically modernised looks and impressive levels of technological innovation, the big cat’s new range-topper is already causing quite a stir.

And just to make things even more interesting, Carfile is currently offering an introductory discount of 5% across the entire XJ model line-up.

So, for example, this brings the entry-level short-wheelbase 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel Luxury down from £53,775 to £51,086, and the top-spec long-wheelbase 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol Supersport down from £90,455 to £85,932.

Hot Deal hunters please note:
Not all brokers deal in UK sourced vehicles, and this may have an impact on standard equipment and warranty levels.

The term ‘pre-reg’ or ‘pre-registered’ refers to vehicles that are brand new but already registered with the DVLA. This means that you will appear as the second owner in the V5 registration document.

Beware of unscrupulous brokers who tell you that they will have to retain the V5 registration document for a period of time after your purchase of the car. Vehicles sold this way may be cheap, but there are numerous legal implications and should be avoided.

With regards to all of the above, always make sure you know exactly what you’re buying before you put your money down in order to ensure you are making an informed choice.
