LG has confirmed that the LG Optimus, also known as the LG GT540, will launch in the UK on May 1st.
The entry-level Android smartphone has been designed to appeal to users looking to buy their first smartphone handset.
Which? first saw the GT540 at the CES show earlier this year, although it’s likely that the model we saw was a prototype.

Live social network updates
Live social network updates, such as those from Twitter or Facebook, can be seen through a widget platform on one of the phone’s seven homescreens, which the user can change to suit their preferences. Further customisation is possible by the editing of the ten categories in phone’s main menu.
Like many LG devices, the LG Optimus recognises the DivX video format for playing back downloaded video files on the phone’s 3-inch screen. The phone has a 3Mp camera with geo-tagging and face tagging features.
