Our latest tests include the new Magimix see-through Vision toaster

Looking for a new toaster? The results of our latest toaster tests reveal whether it's worth shelling out £160 to watch your bread browning as it toasts.

The world's first see-through toaster, the £160 Magimix Vision, has been fully tested by our Which? lab experts. You can see the results now in our toasters review.

We've also tested Gordon Ramsay's debut two-slice toaster and the new generation of the Dualit Vario two-slice toaster, as well as models from Breville, De'Longhi, Kenwood, Russell Hobbs and Electrolux, plus two budget options from Argos Cookworks and Asda.

How we test toasters

We test toasters using a supermarket thick white sliced loaf, as this type of bread is a consistent shape and just the right size to fit in the average toaster.

We make six rounds of toast with each model, three with fresh bread and three toasting frozen bread. We measure toasting time, the area of bread toasted and the evenness of the browning. We compare each side of every slice made.

Evenness of toasting is assessed by calculating what percentage of the bread slice is toasted to a golden-brown colour. All our Best Buys score more than 80% average coverage. There's more information on the how we test toasters page in our toasters review.
