Using special delivery will protect you if items get lost

Which? research has found that Royal Mail/Parcelforce are posting ‘while you were out’ cards through people’s doors when they are actually at home.

A survey of more than 2,200 Which? members found that a third had received a ‘while you were out’ card through their letterbox from Royal Mail/Parcelforce when they were actually in.

Royal Mail will take action

Which? asked Royal Mail to comment on our survey findings. Royal Mail said that its policy is to deliver packages to customers just as it would letters and when it doesn’t happen it will take firm action.

Which? shopping expert Sarah Dennis said: ‘We hope that Royal Mail keeps this promise so people aren’t continually inconvenienced by their national postal service.’
