The latest collection of fridges, freezers and fridge freezers from Zanussi offers up to 15% extra storage space inside, according to the company.
Zanussi is introducing new 50cm-wide under-counter fridges, larder fridges and freezers, 55cm-wide frost-free fridge-freezers and two chest freezers – and they’ve all been designed to ‘optimise internal storage space’ by freeing up space at the top and bottom of the fridge and freezer cavities.
The company says research it conducted into how people buy fridges and freezers found that the ability to preserve food for longer was the most important feature shoppers look for; they also want a model they won’t have to defrost, and they want it to be easy to clean and energy efficient.
Which? fridge freezer testing
Which? refrigeration expert Carole Shepherdson says: ‘Claimed capacity and actual capacity can be very different – we measure the real, useable space inside fridges and freezers that we test, and we’ll be looking at how spacious these new Zanussi models actually are.
‘In a recent test we found a Samsung model with a difference between the space it claimed and the space you could really use that equated to 36 tubs of ice-cream. The lost space was taken up by an ice cube maker and bulky drawers.’
We’ve got 76 freezers, 100 fridges and 128 fridge freezer models on test – and we measure the useable internal space of each one, filling every appliance with groceries and checking how flexible the design is.
