Hot Car Deals, 29 June 2010Big savings on Clio, Focus CC and AMG Mercedes
29 June 2010
There are plenty of deals around on the VW Touran right now, but we think we've found the best
We've scoured the internet to bring you a quartet of bargains in this edition of Hot Car Deals. Save thousands on the Renault Clio, VW Touran and Ford Focus CC, plus the seriously sporty Mercedes C-class C63 AMG.
£5,000 off a VW Touran
Looking for a no-nonsense five-seater people carrier with a strong image? Then the Volkswagen Touran is worth a look.
You can currently expect to get £3,000-plus off at a number of brokers, with several clearly very keen to get rid of existing stock ahead of the arrival of the facelifted version. Take Mammoth Cars for example, which has a few to choose from.
Biggest saving of all is £5,275 off a 2.0-litre TDI 170 turbodiesel in Match specification. List price is £24,270, but it's available at Mammoth for £18,995. Similarly, if you just want the lowest price, Mammoth has a 1.6-litre petrol Match going for just £14,250 - £3,605 less than its £17,855 list.
Reverse auction site says you should save about £5,500 on a Ford Focus CC
Save nearly £5,500 on Ford Focus CC
The Ford Focus CC is the Blue Oval’s take on a compact family-sized coupé-convertible with folding metal hard-top.
It's a decent car to drive, but the Focus CC had some initial issues with roof seals that means it hasn’t proved as popular as it might have done – great news for the bargain hunter.
Reverse auction site Auto eBid, where car dealers attempt to underbid each other for your custom, reckons the most you’ll pay via its services for a basic 1.6-litre petrol in entry-level 1 specification is £16,453.
List price is £21,945 – so that’s a saving of at least £5,492. And you can save an additional £600 if you’re prepared to purchase via a Ford finance scheme.
Be quick, we’re informed that Ford price changes are imminent.
You can get a Renault Clio with TomTom sat nav for £11,500
Renault Clio with satnav for £11,500
Tasty deal on a tasty little hatchback at UK Car Discount: a Renault Clio 1.2 TCe turbo petrol five-door in Dynamique TomTom trim going for just £11,500.
The compact turbocharged engine delivers pokey low-down response with reduced running costs, while Dynamique TomTom means satellite navigation as standard.
And at £11,500, it's £3,105 less than its £14,605 recommended retail price once you account for the included metallic paint (worth £405). There's free delivery, and all cars are new and unregistered from UK main dealer suppliers.
A discount on an AMG-badged Mercedes is rare - but we've found one
Save £4,700 on AMG Mercedes C-class
Finally, it is highly unusual to see an AMG Mercedes at a discount, yet Car and Van Deals Direct has managed just that.
It's offering the C63 AMG - a 6.2-litre V8-engine version of the C-class saloon - for £47,663 – a saving of £4,772. Not a huge discount percentage-wise on a £50k car, but the spare change ought to keep you in fuel for a while.
A fuel costs won't be cheap in a 450bhp seven-speed automatic that's capable of 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
Hot Deal hunters please note:
- Not all brokers deal in UK sourced vehicles, and this may have an impact on standard equipment and warranty levels.
- The term ‘pre-reg’ or ‘pre-registered’ refers to vehicles that are brand new but already registered with the DVLA. This means that you will appear as the second owner in the V5 registration document.
- Beware of unscrupulous brokers who tell you that they will have to retain the V5 registration document for a period of time after your purchase of the car. Vehicles sold this way may be cheap, but there are numerous legal implications and as such they should be avoided.
- With regards to all of the above, always make sure you know exactly what you’re buying before you put your money down in order to ensure you are making an informed choice.
