Renault has announced the pricing and specification for its limited run Clio Gordini 200 – a premium edition version of the Clio Renaultsport 200 hot hatchback.
The Clio Gordini 200 is the second Renault to get the Gordini treatment after the Twingo Gordini 133 went on sale earlier this year.
By resurrecting the famous Gordini name, Renault is attempting to inject additional sporting character and luxury into its performance hatchbacks.
Based on the regular Clio Renaultsport 200, arguably the most exciting driver’s car in its class, the Gordini 200 benefits from a plethora of cosmetic upgrades.
Finished in Malta Blue metallic paint as standard (though Pearl Black and Glacier White are also available) it features Gordini racing stripes, a gloss black front bumper insert with white F1-style ‘blade’, white door mirrors and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. ‘Gordini Series’ badging completes the look.
On the inside there are dark grey leather seats with Gordini logos and blue detailing, plus more blue on the gearlever gaiter and gearknob.
The steering wheel is blue and grey leather with twin white stripes marking the centre point, the rev counter is finished in white rather than the usual Renaultsport yellow, and black gloss highlights areas of the dashboard.
No extra performance for Clio
Performance and handling remains identical to the ordinary Renaultsport Clios – so you get the same 197bhp 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a choice of sport or optional Cup chassis settings (£410).
The 0-62mph sprint should therefore take around 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 140mph, while CO2 emissions are 195g/km with fuel economy of 34mpg combined (according to official EU testing figures). Brembo brakes are standard.
Other fitted kit includes climate control air-con, automatic lights and wipers, cruise control and speed limiter, keyless go, Bluetooth, USB connector and stability control.
£2,000 more than standard
Just 500 Renault Clio Gordini 200s will be coming to UK, each featuring a numbered plaque on the dashboard.
Priced from £19,650, the Gordini is £1,940 more expensive than a regular Renaultsport Clio 200 – and £2,940 more than the stripped-out Cup variant.
The Renault Clio Gordini 200 available to order now, with the first examples reaching dealers in July.
