Renault Latitude luxury saloon - first lookVel Satis replacement offers less Gallic flair
09 June 2010
This luxury saloon is the new Renault Latitude, the French carmaker’s replacement for the discontinued Renault Vel Satis.
French luxury market is in decline
The desire for large, French luxury cars may be rather limited in the UK - the Citroen C6, for example, has amassed just over 700 sales since 2006 – and Renault has still to confirm whether the Latitude will be sold here.
It may be a reaction to the challenging styling of the Vel Satis, but the new Renault Latitude has played it safe with conservative looks and no discernible Gallic flair.
However, Renault says the cabin will help mark this car out, with many high-end options, including a dual-mode air ionizer, triple-zone climate control, a massaging driver's seat and a Bose Premium audio system.
European debut at Paris in September
The Renault Latitude will be officially unveiled at the Moscow Motor Show in August, and a European version of the car will be presented at September’s Paris Motor Show.
