Which? reveals vacuum cleaner Best Buys

The new bagless BGS6225GB from Bosch

The results of our latest vacuum cleaner tests are in, revealing five new Best Buys, including bagged and bagless models.

Our vacuum reviews include the newest models from Bosch, Dyson and Dirt Devil. Prices range from £80 to a budget-busting £250 and our test results show exactly what you’ll get for your money.

So, if you’re in the market for a new vacuum cleaner check out the full results of these tests – plus reviews of more than 100 cylinder and upright vacuum cleaners – in our vacuum cleaners review.

Latest vacuum cleaners

There have been new launches from many of the big vacuum cleaner manufacturers in 2010 and our tests include some of the most exciting models to hit the high street recently.

Bosch has ventured into the world of bagless cylinders for the first time with its G5-60 range, which it claims will ‘revolutionise’ the bagless cylinder vac market.

Our latest tests include the mid-priced model from this new range – the BGS6225GB Pet Hair & Carpet (£229).

Dyson’s DC26 ‘miniature’ City vac caused a stir when it was launched back in January – with a cylinder small enough to fit on an A4 page. Our tests reveal whether this compact bagless cylinder can punch above its weight when it comes to cleaning.

The right vacuum cleaner

Which? vacuum cleaner expert Vivienne Fitzroy says: ‘We’ve seen quite a few new bagless vacs come on to the market this year. Manufacturers are continuing to design vacs to suit different lifestyles – compact, pets, and ‘eco’ models are increasingly commonplace. So it can be hard to choose – that’s where our tests come in.’

We put all our vacuum cleaners through rigorous tests at our lab to see which are the best at cleaning carpet, wooden floors and pet hair.

We also test how well a vac retains the smallest dust particles and allergens it picks up – important if you’ve got an allergy sufferer at home, particularly at this time of year.
