Asus Bamboo series – the green choice?

The bamboo exterior on the U33 and U53 reduces traditional plastic use by around 15%, according to Asus. It says that apart from its green properties bamboo is also very hardwearing, making it robust and practical too. It comes in a box made from 100% recyclable bamboo materials.

The new laptops also have super hybrid engine technology which automatically manages power levels. According to the manufacturer this means users can have high performance levels when watching videos or playing games but don’t waste battery life when using email or word processing, which uses less power.

Asus claims this boosts performance and can extend battery life up to 10 hours, twice that of competitor models. We test battery life as part of our rigorous lab tests and look forward to finding out whether these models can live up to their claims.

According to Asus, USB 3.0 connections can transfer a 25GB Blu-ray film in 70 seconds or reduce iPhone charging times by 45%.
