Lexus UK is about to announce precautionary recalls for more than 3,000 of its models, including the Lexus LS 460, LS 600h hybrid, GS 460 and GS 450h hybrid.
According to the luxury Japanese carmaker, improperly functioning valve springs have been found in some vehicles, which can cause abnormal engine noise, unstable idling, a misfire or even make the engine stop. So far Lexus says there have been no reported accidents.
This is disappointing news for Lexus owners, particularly as the company was recently shortlisted for this year’s Which? Best Car Manufacturer award and performs consistently well in the Which? Car Survey.
However, we do welcome carmakers who acknowledge such problems and deal with them swiftly. Especially when these faults could have safety implications.
