Miele washing machine tells you its energy usageMiele washing machine can report back energy use
15 July 2010
A new Miele washing machine can record and display how much energy and water it consumes to help homeowners become more aware of their energy usage.
According to Miele, the Eco Feedback washing machine calculates the duration, energy and water use of each washing cycle it performs, 'to provide the user with accurate consumption data' - displaying it on a dashboard screen on the front of the machine. This, Miele adds, makes the washing machine a UK first.

Miele washing machine - first impressions
Which? washing machines expert Vivienne Fitzroy says: 'Miele washing machines tend to score well in our tests, and this sounds like an interesting and useful new feature for energy-conscious consumers.
'Displaying energy and water use doesn't in itself reduce energy consumption - but it will hopefully help homeowners become more aware of the energy they're using, and perhaps think twice about unnecessary washing loads. Using a wireless energy monitor around your home - we've got from around £25 - can help you achieve the same thing.'
We're testing the Miele Eco Feedback in the Which? test lab now - look out for results in our washing machines review, which includes reviews of five other Miele washing machines.
