Range Rover Evoque

Range Rover Evoque hits UK showrooms next year

Land Rover is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its Range Rover brand with the development of an all-new ‘baby’ Range Rover called the Evoque.

The new Range Rover Evoque will initially be offered in three-door body style – a five door version will follow – and is similar in size to the Land Rover Freelander. It will be built alongside the Freelander at Land Rover’s Halewood facility in Merseyside.

The Range Rover Evoque is expected to go on UK sale next summer.

Although the Range Rover brand has become synonymous with luxury and ‘go anywhere’ ability, the new Range Rover Evoque has been designed to appeal to a new urban audience, less concerned with tackling the Andes thant keeping running costs down.

Land Rover LRX Concept

Evoque is based on 2008 Land Rover LRX Concept

This model will in fact be the first ever Range Rover to be offered with 2WD, the benefit of this being improved fuel economy and lower emissions. Land Rover bosses say that some Evoque models will produce less than 130g/km of CO2 making this 'Chelsea tractor' rather environmentally conscious.

No prices for the Evoque have yet been released, but we're expecting four-wheel-drive versions to start at around £35k – slightly more expensive than the Audi Q5 - and the 2WD version to cost around £5000 less.
