LG says its new two-metre tall fridge freezer boasts the world’s biggest capacity for a model of its size – packing in 381 litres of space into standard fridge freezer dimensions.
That’s just short of the capacity offered by three bath tubs, according to LG – allowing households to stock up on more food and therefore shop less often.
The biggest capacity fridge freezer we’ve measured here at Which? is a combined fridge and freezer capacity on a two-metre tall Beko model (the CDA565F) of 231 litres, so this is an impressively large claim from LG – if its capacity is as vast as it says.
We’ve got 72 freezers, 99 fridges and 144 fridge freezer models on test – and we measure the useable internal space of each one, filling every appliance with groceries and checking how flexible the design is.

Other features of the LG GB7143A2PW1 fridge freezer include:
- a water dispenser that doesn’t require plumbing in
- LED lighting
- removable and adjustable shelving
- frost-free – no more defrosting
- ‘fresh zero zone’ – a compartment able to consistently stay at zero degrees, to prepare meat and fish ‘to be the perfect temperature for cooking’.
Fridge freezer capacity
Claimed capacity and actual fridge freezer capacity can be very different however, warns Which? refrigeration expert Carole Shepherdson: ‘We measure the real, useable space inside the fridge freezers that we test, so we’ll be looking closely at how spacious this LG fridge freezer actually is’.
‘In a recent test we found a Samsung model with a difference between the space it claimed and the space you could really use that equated to 36 tubs of ice-cream. The lost space was taken up by an ice cube maker and bulky drawers.’
We’ll be fully lab testing the LG GB7143A2PW1 fridge freezer soon. It’s available now at Comet for £1099.99.
