Homemade cupcakes ‘in a matter of minutes’?

Which? to put Breville cupcake maker to the test
Breville cupcake maker

Breville has launched a new cupcake maker which it claims can make up to eight cupcakes in a matter of minutes ready for icing.

According to Breville, all you need to do to use its new pink Cupcake Creations Set is ‘simply pop in a cupcake case and fill with cake mix, shut the lid, and in a matter of minutes you’ll have delicious cupcakes ready for your own personal finishing touch’.

Cake makers on test

We’ll be trying out this cupcake maker in a First Look review soon – where we’ll simultaneously bake a separate batch of cupcakes in the oven to see which method produces the quickest and tastiest cupcakes. We’ll report back with the findings soon.

In the meantime, take a look at how the Lakeland Cupcake Maker fared when we put it through the same test.

Which? small appliances expert Lisa Galliers said: ‘Cupcake makers are a fairly quick and easy way to whip up some cupcakes; they won’t replace the bronzed beauties you get from baking in an oven, but with a covering of icing they’re a good option for fun baking with the kids and the consistent results will appeal to the less experienced baker.’

The Breville cupcake maker has non-stick plates and an ‘easy lock’ lid to make cake making ‘as simple as possible’, and also comes with a recipe and decorating guide. You can choose between mini or classic-sized cupcakes.

It’s £34.99 and will be available at Argos and Amazon.
