Dualit launches capsule coffee machineRapido coffee machine makes 30p-a-go espressos
17 September 2010
Dualit boasts it's newly-launched Dualit Rapido capsule coffee machine will give you ‘delicious coffee at the touch of a button’.
Despite its name making it sound a little like a certain vacuum cleaner we can think of, the £150 Rapido is a capsule coffee machine designed for those with a busy lifestyle and Dualit promises it will ‘guarantee the minimum of mess and fuss’.
The Rapido takes Dualit Caffitaly capsules only, so it can't be used with coffee beans or ground coffee from a packet. The capsules cost £3.00-£3.50 for 10 at John Lewis and are available in three different flavours (Intenso, Cremoso and Originale), as well as milk and hot chocolate versions.
The compact machine is poised to hit shops this month, and comes with programmable buttons to tailor water levels and temperature, plus a removable water tank and a simple control panel.

Dualit Rapido coffee machine
Which? coffee machines expert Lisa Galliers says: ‘The Rapido is a compact machine, so it won’t take up much counter-top space and looks set to appeal to anyone who favours the convenience of using a capsule-only machine, as these are less messy to use than a traditional espresso machine.
'It looks fairly simple to use, which is also good as these gadgets start gathering dust if they’re too tricky to master and is why we take ease of use into account when we test espresso machines.
'But, we know using capsules is an expensive way of drinking coffee. The Dualit Caffitaly coffee capsules cost £3.00 for ten, which works out 30p per espresso.’
The Dualit Rapido is available from John Lewis from 20 September, and we'll be bringing you our first impressions via a Which? first look review, which will be published online shortly in our coffee machine reviews area.
