Free first aid courses for parents launchedLearn first aid skills for babies and toddlers
08 September 2010
A series of free sessions to teach parents lifesaving skills to keep babies and toddlers safe are being held up and down the country from October.
The Tesco Baby & Toddler club has teamed up with the British Red Cross to offer parents free two-hour practical seminars on first aid essentials.
The BabySafe sessions will provide parents with advice on childhood medical issues such as how to spot meningitis or stop a young child from choking, as well as resuscitation techniques using baby mannequins.
Visit our child safety at home section for advice on keeping your little ones safe - including which baby safety equipment to invest in, plus a checklist of items you need to make up a home first aid kit.
Baby and toddler first aid
According to research conducted by Tesco, two fifths of parents have had to give emergency care to a young child but over 40% have never done any first aid training.
Since the initiative was first launched in 2007, the Tesco BabySafe seminars have been attended by more than 5,000 parents. Now a further ten sessions have been planned in locations including London, Birmingham, Liverpool, York and Inverness between October 2010 and February 2011.
To book a place on a course and find out more about the sessions and available dates, visit the Tesco Baby & Toddler website or call the registration hotline on 01733 385 174.
