Hot car deals, 2 September 2010Great deals from Mazda, Peugeot and Mercedes
01 September 2010
It's been another busy week for our deal hunters - just check out the cracking deals they've found on the Mazda RX-8, Peugeot 308 and Mercedes C200 CDI.
Last of the line Mazda RX-8 under £20k
Save more than £5k on an RX-8
Mazda informs us that there are fewer than 100 unsold RX-8s left in stock in the UK; the seminal four-door, rotary-engined sports car has been discontinued, and these are the very last of them.
List price for the end-of-the-line ‘R3’ specification RX-8 is £25,540, with standard kit including a nine-speaker six-CD Bose stereo, auxiliary input, climate control, 19-inch alloy wheels, Recaro front seats, bodykit, Bluetooth, electric heated mirrors, stability control, six airbags and metallic paint. Plus, there's that unusual 228bhp engine, which powers the car from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds.
Sounds comprehensive – but you don’t want to pay full price. Try Perrys instead, which is selling off brand new examples at just £19,995. That’s a £5,545 saving on your last chance to buy.
Save nearly 30% on Peugeot 308 and 407 Sport diesels
Get nearly 30% off a pre-reg Peugeot
Drive the Deal has a pair of sizeable pre-registered Peugeot discounts for your delectation. Pick either a Peugeot 308 Sport hatchback or a Peugeot 407 Sport SW estate, both fitted with a 2.0-litre HDi turbodiesel engine providing 140bhp.
Standard kit on the 308 includes 17-inch alloy wheels, sporty front-end styling, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, USB and Bluetooth, stability control and six airbags. The 407 features 16-inch alloys, automatic lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, interior trim upgrade including half-leather seats, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and six airbags.
List price for the 308 is £19,855 or £24,910 for the 407, but they’re available for £14,125 and £17,550 respectively, and in a choice of colours. That means savings of £5,730 and £7,360 – very nearly 30%.
Frugal Mercedes C200 CDI - more than £3k off
Save £3k on a Mercedes C200
Looking for executive image but frugal running costs? Then may we suggest the Mercedes-Benz C200 CDI BlueEfficiency?
This 2.2-litre turbodiesel sprints from 0-62mph in 9.2 seconds and has a top speed of 135mph, yet returns 56.4mpg combined while emitting 139g/km CO2 (with 17-inch alloy wheels) according to official EU testing figures. Stick a Mercedes badge on the front of that and you’ve got quite a combination.
Autobytel has the C200 CDI available in Sport specification – including AMG alloys, sport suspension, bigger brakes and more direct steering – for just £25,201. List price for this model is £28,225 – so that’s a healthy discount of £3,024.
Hot Deal hunters please note:
• Not all brokers deal in UK sourced vehicles, and this may have an impact on standard equipment and warranty levels.
• The term ‘pre-reg’ or ‘pre-registered’ refers to vehicles that are brand new but already registered with the DVLA. This means that you will appear as the second owner in the V5 registration document.
• Beware of unscrupulous brokers who tell you that they will have to retain the V5 registration document for a period of time after your purchase of the car. Vehicles sold this way may be cheap, but there are numerous legal implications and as such they should be avoided.
• With regards to all of the above, always make sure you know exactly what you’re buying before you put your money down in order to ensure you are making an informed choice.
