Cosmetic surgery victoryWhich? reader wins payout after botched face-lift

31 October 2010

£15k settlement won against a major cosmetic surgery chain, five years after a £5k face-lift left Denise Maitland with scarring and having to wear a wig.

We first reported on Denise Maitland, from Swansea, in 2007 where her story was just one that we'd uncovered in our campaign to raise awareness of the risks of cosmetic surgery. Denise's wounds weren’t checked before she left hospital and bleeding under her skin went unnoticed, leaving permanent damage.

Cosmetic surgery payout

Three years on, Denise has finally won her settlement against the cosmetic surgery chain. She said: ‘Without Which?’s support, I don’t think I would’ve taken on the organisation. I was seduced by TV shows, but it’s serious surgery, and if things go wrong it’s very difficult to put right. I’m still living with the scars.'
