If you’re thinking of giving an e-book this Christmas, your task has just been made easier thanks to a new service unveiled by

The ‘Kindle Book as a Gift’ service, which was launched last week, allows consumers to gift e-book vouchers directly to book-loving family members or friends.

All consumers need to do is choose an e-book from the 750,000 plus titles available in the Kindle Store, select ‘Give as a Gift’ and Amazon will send an email to the recipient, notifying them of their present.

The giftee can then redeem the gift voucher/e-book in the Kindle Store.

‘We are thrilled to make it easier than ever for our customers to give their favourite Kindle book to a friend or family member as a gift,’ said Russ Grandinetti, Vice President, Amazon Kindle.

‘We’re making this functionality available in time for the holidays to offer an easy, stress-free holiday shopping option for anyone – not just Kindle owners.’

Kindle e-books can be read on any Kindle device and free Kindle reading apps for iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, Mac, PC, BlackBerry and Android-based devices.
