Homes without insulation ‘waste £2.5 billion’

New research shows price of not insulating homes
Loft insulation

Consumers are ‘wasting £2.5 billion’ because they don’t have insulation, according to new research.

Of the 26.5 million homes in the UK, just 12.3 million have loft insulation of at least 125mm and only 10.3 million have cavity wall insulation, according to Decc figures.

Comparison website calculated we could be wasting a total of  £2.5 billion because of this.

You can save around £145 a year on fuel bills by installing loft insulation and £110 for cavity wall lagging. And people aged over 70 years can also qualify for a 100% grant on the cost of insulation.

Energy prices

Four of the big six energy suppliers have announced price rises this winter – including British Gas, Npower, Scottish and Southern Energy and Scottish Power.
