Every little doesn’t help if you reside in Liverpool and have a L8 postcode. Tesco, which is to open a flagship store in Park Road, Toxteth, won’t cover drivers in this area of Liverpool.
Tesco has been accused of ‘hyprocisy’ because it refused to provide car insurance to motorists living in the same area of Liverpool as the retailer’s proposed new Toxteth store. Britain’s biggest supermarket has pledged to create 500 jobs at the new store, with many would-be employees living in the vicinity.
Local councillor Richard Kemp said: ‘The firm talks about consideration for the community, but this is hypocrisy of the highest order. When we had problems, it tried to sort them out with a £500 donation to the Allerton In Bloom campaign. I do not suppose it is worse than anyone else, but because it is the biggest I think it probably makes the most mistakes.’
