Network Q Lifetime Warranty: used peace of mind?
Prior to this, the Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty, introduced in August 2010, was only available to the original owner of the vehicle.
Now, if you buy a second-hand car through Network Q – Vauxhall’s approved used scheme – it will also offer the peace of mind of a 100,000-mile warranty.
The only catches are outlined above – second-owner cars up to 12 months / 30,000 miles old – plus you must visit a Vauxhall service centre every year for a free annual check up and maintain the correct maintenance schedule.
100,000-mile Lifetime and Network Q
The Network Q Lifetime Warranty includes cover for the powertrain, steering system, braking system and electrical equipment until the car reaches the end of its life – which for Vauxhall’s purposes is limited to 100,000 miles.
As a Network Q approved used car, every applicable vehicle gets a multi-point inspection by Vauxhall technicians prior to sale. In addition to making sure the car meets mechanical standards and has the latest software upgrades, this also includes an HPI check for mileage and accidents.
As the first national, manufacturer-backed used car programme, Network Q has been going since 1990, and is the largest such scheme in the UK. Over 1.9 million cars have passed through its hands, and more than 80,000 Network Q Vauxhalls were sold in 2010 alone. There are over 350 Network Q retailers across the country.
Confidence in quality
Vauxhall says the extension of the Lifetime Warranty to used cars reflects confidence in the quality of its products.
Managing Director of Vauxhall Motors, Duncan Aldred, said: “The Network Q Lifetime Warranty is designed to protect our customers against unexpected costs and to give reassurance and peace of mind long after they’ve taken delivery of their used Vauxhall.”
The extension of 100,000-mile warranty protection to Network Q used vehicles occurs amidst news that the Advertising Standards Authority has forced Vauxhall to clarify terms and conditions when marketing its Lifetime Warranty for new cars.
