Nintendo is opening an online store dedicated to the 3DS, its latest handheld gaming console.

The store is expected to open on March 25, the same day the 3DS is launched.

The online store will sell a range of apps and games that will not be made available through high street stores, a Nintendo technician said.

He said it will probably be called the 3DS Shop before adding that there had been no official confirmation of that yet.

Health concerns for children

Earlier this year, Nintendo warned that children aged six years and under should not play 3D games on the 3DS.

The games maker said exposing children to 3D images at this age could damage their developing vision. It has said they could safely play games in its 2D mode.

Nintendo also advised adults not to play the game in 3D mode for longer than 30 minutes.
