Hot Car Deals, 12 May 2011Savings on Clio, Volvo V60 and Abarth 500

12 May 2011

A hatchback, a sporty supermini and a swish Swedish estate are all discounted in today's batch of Hot Car Deals. Read on to find out how to save on the Renault Clio TomTom, Volvo's V60 D3 and the Abarth 500.

Renault Clio TomTom at least £3,300 off

Renault Clio

We've spotted a £3,000-off deal on the Renault Clio TomTom

Fancy a Renault Clio with factory fit satellite navigation and at least 22% off? Then take a look at Drive the Deal's website.

The broker has Dynamique TomTom specification three- and five-door Clios available with a choice of engines ranging from the basic 1.2-litre petrol to the frugal 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel – all with savings of more than £3,300 on the list price, meaning you can buy from as little as £9,508.

As the name suggests, this trim level includes a built in TomTom sat nav system. Of the engines available our choice would be either the 1.5 diesel, or – for a sportier drive – the 1.2-litre TCe turbo petrol.

A three-door version of this is available for £10,188 - that’s £3,347 less than the £13,535 list. Alternatively, this same engine is also available in the higher spec GT Line TomTom model for £11,135; this may sound pricey, but it's a £3,300 saving over the £14,435 list price.

There is a slight snag – to get the maximum discount on any of these cars you will need take out finance with the supplying Renault dealer. But there are still substantial savings to be made if you don't want to take out the finance. There are good savings on Renault Meganes, too.

Save £5,000 on Volvo V60 D3

Volvo V60

You can save over £5,000 on the Volvo V60 D3

Volvo has spent a great deal of effort trying to convince potential buyers the new V60 is sexy rather than practical.

We’re not even supposed to call it an estate – rather, the new car is, apparently, a Sport Wagon. How successful this campaign is proving is not for us to say, but we do know that the V60 is a big, practical family car. And new car price aggregator My Car Quote can put you in touch with a Volvo dealer offering the V60 D3 in SE Lux specification at nearly £5,300 off…

The D3 is a 2.0-litre five-cylinder turbodiesel producing 160bhp and returning a claimed 55.4mpg with 132g/km CO2 emissions; SE Lux specification is the best you can get bar the body-kitted R-Design – and even with the swoopy new styling you do still get 692 litres of boot space with the seats up.

List price for this model is £29,730 – My Car Quotes’ discounted price is £24,438, a total saving of £5,292.

One-year-old Abarth 500 hot hatch for £10,999

Abarth 500

Get a year-old Abarth 500 hot hatch from Motorpoint

Finally this week – here’s something you really don’t see everyday: Motorpoint has three nearly-new Abarth 500 hot hatches available at just £10,999 apiece.

The Abarth 500 is based on the Fiat 500, but has its own unique brand identity based on the Abarth racing heritage. It’s powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo petrol, producing a spirited 135bhp, meaning it’s capable of 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, 127mph flat out while returning a claimed 52.3mpg with 155g/km CO2 emissions.

This sporty little number doesn’t have the most cosseting ride quality, but it's great fun and quite special. To find three used examples in one place is genuinely very unusual, and with each car having covered around 16,000 miles, we feel £10,999 is decent value – compared with the original list price, it represents a saving £3,219.

Hot Deal hunters please note:

  • Not all brokers deal in UK sourced vehicles, and this may have an impact on standard equipment and warranty levels.
  • The term ‘pre-reg’ or ‘pre-registered’ refers to vehicles that are brand new but already registered with the DVLA. This means that you will appear as the second owner in the V5 registration document.
  • Beware of unscrupulous brokers who tell you that they will have to retain the V5 registration document for a period of time after your purchase of the car. Vehicles sold this way may be cheap, but there are numerous legal implications and as such they should be avoided.
  • With regards to all of the above, always make sure you know exactly what you’re buying before you put your money down in order to ensure you are making an informed choice.
