Glideaways cot bed

Since the dawn of time parents have used a gentle rocking motion to soothe their fractious babies, and now UK cot bed manufacturer Saplings has brought that soothing power to an innovative new cot bed.

Gliding cot bed

Based on the gliding cribs that have been used for generations, the Saplings design team claims that the innovative Glideaway cot bed is the only gliding cot bed on the market.

The Glideaway cot bed has a hand-operated, gliding mechanism that slides the cot from side-to-side. Two locking devices hold it still when necessary.

Which? expert view

Which? baby products expert Victoria Pearson says: 'Getting your baby to sleep can be a challenge so it's interesting to see manufacturers creating innovative cots to help parents.

'We will be looking for thoughtful features that help parents to give their baby a good night's sleep when we test cot beds in more detail this summer.'

Under bed storage

The gliding function only works in the cot formation but the Glideaway cot bed can also be converted into a static junior bed, which is suitable for use until the child is about five years old.

The Glideaway cot bed has tongue and groove effect panelled ends with curved tops, and comes with two under-cot drawers. There are also two teething rails on the cot, which measures 144 x 76 x 92cm overall.

A standard cot bed size mattress measuring 140 x 69cm fits the Glideaway cot bed and the mattress can be set to three different heights.

The cot bed is available in white or country pine and costs £340. Telephone Saplings direct on 01952 550022 for details of stockists in your local area.
