Virgin has cut the price of the Virgin Media TiVo box, but has also taken the unusual step of refunding customers who’d purchased it at the previous price.
The TiVo box, which sold for around £150 when it went on sale last year, will now cost new customers just £100. Those who bought the box at the original price will have £50 credited to their Virgin accounts.
In an email to its customers, Virgin said: ‘We know you bought our 1TB TiVo box for £149.95. Since then, we’ve dropped the price to a brilliant £99.95 to celebrate the launch of our new ad campaign.’
‘We always want to make sure you’re getting the best deal there is’, it continued. ‘That’s why we’re giving you a £50 refund on your Virgin Media account, so you’ll be paying our new and improved price.’
What is the Virgin Media TiVo box?
The Virgin Media TiVo box is a triple-tuner PVR that automatically records programmes it thinks you’ll like based on your viewing habits. Its triple-tuner design means it can record programmes on two separate channels while you watch a third, or record on three channels at once.
