Trading Standards and Mothercare have issued a recall notice for the Mothercare Xcursion travel system.
Routine checks have identified that in some cases the car seat fabric used on the Mothercare Xcursion travel system does not include the correct fire retardant treatment.
Mothercare is contacting customers to provide alternative covers for the car seats of affected models.
Mothercare Xcursion faulty batches
The recall notice affects customers who bought a Mothercare Xcursion travel system between 1 September 2010 and 19 July 2011.
Xcursion owners should look for the batch code found on the car seat base to see if their travel system is one of the affected models. The recall applies to the following colours:
- Black denim: 20100802-17, 20101019-19, 20101229-22, 20100126-23 and 20110514-25
- Stone safari: 20100923-18
- Khaki twill: 20101215-21 and 201011115-20
Which? pushchairs expert Victoria Pearson advises: ‘If you have not yet received a letter from Mothercare please speak to a member of Mothercare store staff to arrange your replacement car seat cover or discuss alternative options.
‘Mothercare advises that you can continue to use the car seat, but to be extra vigilant – keeping the car seat away from direct sources of fire and ignition, such as smouldering cigarettes, matches or candles.’
