Uber-fashionable pushchair brand Phil&Teds has unveiled a new in-line tandem buggy called the Phil&Teds Promenade. The new pushchair features a seat that converts into a lie-flat bed, and will adapt to take one or two children.
The sleek, urban Promenade is a noticeable departure from the rugged styling of earlier Phil&Teds pushchairs such as the Phil&Teds Classic.
Phil&Teds tandem pushchairs
Which? pushchairs expert Victoria Pearson says: ‘A new release from Phil&Teds is big news in the pushchair world – the brand revolutionised the buggy market when it introduced the ability to convert your single pushchair to carry one or two children with its double kit.
‘This innovation has spawned an entire generation of convertible in-line tandem pushchairs – we’ll be publishing our latest test results for more than 10 of these double pushchairs in October.
‘Keep an eye on our pushchair reviews to see if Phil&Teds is holding off the competition in our tough pushchairs tests.’
Introducing the Phil&Teds Promenade
The Promenade was unveiled at the Kind und Jungend trade fair in Cologne; it won’t be on sale until 2012 and the price remains to be decided.
It is a travel system pushchair that can be used with a seat or car seat in the main position and a second seat double kit attached above the back wheels.
New buggy seat features
The seats on earlier Phil&Teds pushchairs have sometimes lacked sophistication, but this new release addresses some of those previous shortcomings.
New seat features include:
- the main and double kit seats convert into lie-flat beds
- the main seat can face the parent or forwards
- the backrest of the main and double kit seats recline to three positions using just one hand
- the main seat has a three position adjustable foot rest
- the harness shoulder pads can be adjusted independently
- the main sunhood has a zip-out extension to keep the sun out of baby’s eyes.
The pushchair also has an extendable sliding handle, dual front wheel suspension and a neat concertina fold mechanism.
