Deal of the week: Miele S6290 Silence vacuum cleaner

The Miele S6290 cylinder vacuum cleaner promises great cleaning, but without the noise. Don't pay more than you need - we've found it for £40 off the RRP.

The Silence vacuum is designed to keep the peace with its low-volume vacuuming. Its motor is just 1,200 watts (W), but Miele says its cleaning power still measures up to its other 2,000W vacs because of its 'Airteq' floorhead.

When we tested it out in the Which? test lab, we certainly found it to be quiet - making it a good option if you have a sleeping baby at home during the day or don't want to disturb others.

You can read our full test findings - including scores for cleaning carpets and laminate floors, and picking up pet hair - in our Miele S6290 Silence vacuum cleaner review. Read on for where to shop for it for less.

The S6290 has a RRP of £229.99 but we spotted it in John Lewis for £199.95 including free delivery or store collection, as well as a free two year guarantee.

Beating John Lewis on price, however, was independents GoElectrical, who have the Silence available for £189.90, plus free delivery. It's also offering a year's free supply of filter vacuum bags until 31 December.

Miele Silence

This Miele model is a bagged, cylinder vacuum cleaner, and comes with a telescopic hose, a nozzle for cleaning upholstery, a dusting brush and a small nozzle for difficult-to-access crevices.

Our experts found cleaning the nozzle and changing the vacuum bags and filters simple and straightforward.
