Consumers with solar panels are generally satisfied with them, according to a new report.
But solar panel installers must do more to make sure they provide the best service.

The ‘Keeping Fit’ report from Consumer Focus found that more than 90% of consumers were satisfied with the way their solar panels were sold, the information they were given by the installation company and the quality of their system once it was installed.
However more than a quarter of consumers were dissatisfied with the process for registering their system to receive payment through the feed-in-tariff (FIT), which pays householders for the energy their solar panels generate.
Plus, a third of the 2,631 people surveyed said they weren’t given information on how to get the best out of their system and some experienced pressure selling.

Changes to the feed-in-tariff
Which? energy expert Sylvia Baron said: ‘It is very encouraging that satisfaction is so high amongst people who have taken up solar panel systems.
‘The feed-in tariff was certainly a great driver for uptake and it’s predicted that this will drop with the proposed cuts to FIT.
‘With longer payback time, it is more important than ever that consumers are not being mis-sold solar panels. Our undercover investigation found some bad practice in the industry and we are working with other parties to ensure cowboys can no longer operate in this market.’
