The Dyson DC39 

Dyson has launched its first cylinder vacuums that feature the famous Dyson ball.

The latest Dyson range includes three cylinder and three upright ball vacuums, which offer a range of new features designed to make vacuuming easier and quicker.

New Dyson technology

The new vacuums feature Dyson's latest ‘Radial Root Cyclone Technology’(which it claims boosts suction power) and re-designed vacuum heads to improve contact with the floor and boost dust pick up.

The vacuum filters have also been improved to make them easier to remove and clean.

Dyson cylinder vacuums

The cylinder ball vacuum cleaners - a first for Dyson - have a small turning circle, designed to make it easy to move around furniture.

  • The DC39 Multi Floor features a vacuum head which automatically adjusts to suit carpet or hard floors. It costs £299.99.
  • The DC39 Animal features a rotating brush in the vacuum head which you control using a trigger in the vacuum handle. It also includes a head for hard floors and a mini turbine head attachment for use on upholstery and stairs. It costs £339.99
  • The DC38 Multi Floor is a mini ball cylinder vacuum that weighs 6kg. It costs £299.99.

Dyson upright vacuums

The new upright vacuum cleaners are more streamlined than previous models as many of the components are now hidden inside the ball. The hose has been redesigned to make it easier to remove.

  • The DC40 Multi Floor features a vacuum head which automatically adjusts to suit carpet or hard floors. It costs £349.99.
  • The DC40 Animal features the same technology, with the addition of a mini turbine head attachment which clips onto the hose to remove pet hair and dirt. It costs £369.99.
  • The DC41 is the largest vacuum in the range, with a large capacity dust bin and a self-adjusting head to suit all floor types. It comes with a mini turbine head attachment which clips onto the hose to remove pet hair and dirt. It costs £389.99.

Vacuum cleaner claims

Dyson claims the DC39 removes more dust than any other cylinder vacuum and says the DC40 is market-leading for its cleaning capabilities. We’ll be putting these claims to the test when we send these vacuums to our test lab.
