The new Kia Cee’d shares a platform with the 2012 Hyundai i30, it will be gunning for the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf. It’s sure to go down well if it follows the lead of the current model, which represents great value for money with prices starting at £11,495.
Better quality, still great value?
Kia hasn’t been generous with the details so far, but it describes the new Cee’d’s styling as sporty and muscular.
Appearing first as a five-door hatchback, an even more svelte three-door Pro_cee’d is likely to follow shortly after launch – as per the current generation car – with a Cee’d SW estate appearing later too.
On the inside, Kia says there’s a driver-focused interior with improved ergonomics and cabin materials. Refinement will be improved, as will the gadget count, and you can certainly expect some impressive economy and emissions figures if the recent Kia Picanto and Rio are anything to go by.
On sale in June
Following its world unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show 2012 in March, the new Cee’d is expect to be on sale in the UK by June.
Pricing and specification will be announced nearer that time, but with Kia’s standard seven-year warranty and typical value proposition it’s likely to be worth seriously considering if you’re shopping in the family hatchback segment this year.
