28 February 2012
KnowHow Movies will launch on Thursday 1 March in the UK and offer streamed films and TV shows on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The PC World and Currys service will enable its customers to stream on-demand, subscription-free video content to their laptops and computers initially, with services for Android and Apple smartphones and tablets - as well as smart TVs - to follow in the next six months.
KnowHow Movies vs LOVEFiLM and Netflix
KnowHow Movies will offer both renting and buying options, and will go head-to-head with the subscription-based film streaming services from LOVEFiLM and Netflix.
LOVEFiLM offers several services including the £4.99 per month LOVEFiLM Instant that provides unlimited access to the library of films. Netflix only provides a £5.99 per month streaming service. It doesn't offer DVD rental like LOVEFiLM does.
New releases on Knowhow Movies will cost £12.99 to buy or £3.99 to rent, and older titles will cost £5.99 to buy and £2.99 to rent. Knowhow will also provide a number of TV shows to rent for £1.99.
