The Seat Leon in FR+ Supercopa spec

Seat has released details of the new Supercopa trim level for its sports-focused Leon FR+.

The addition of Supercopa specification to the Leon FR+ range ‘offers a significant step up from the standard FR trim in terms of both performance and equipment’ according to the Spanish manufacturer.

More standard equipment

The normal Seat Leon FR+ comes relatively well equipped, with dual-zone climate control, cruise control, MP3-compatible stereo, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and automatic headlights and wipers among its list of standard kit.

On top of this the FR+ Supercopa comes with a five-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth phone preparation and audio streaming, xenon headlights with adaptive front lighting system and rear parking sensors.

Styling additions

Supercopa trim also adds a full-fat bodykit, comprising a comprehensively reworked front and rear bumper, new side skirts and a more pronounced rear spoiler, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels, twin chrome-tipped exhausts and Supercopa badging.

According to Seat, the styling revisions reflect the sporting intentions of the Leon FR+, and the Supercopa name draws parallels with the firm’s motorsport exploits.

Performance petrol and diesel engines

The new trim level does not affect the car’s available engine line-up. That means the 208bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 168bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines remain.

The 168bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel offers a compromise of performance and efficiency

The 208bhp 2.0-litre petrol offers the most impressive performance, with the 0-62mph sprint dispatched in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 145mph.

However, if you’re looking to balance performance and efficiency, the 168bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel offers a decent compromise. From rest, 62mph will come up in a respectable 8.2 seconds while on paper fuel economy stands at 55.4mpg combined with 134g/km CO2 emissions – equating to annual car tax (VED) of £115.

According to Seat, the new Supercopa edition features £3,000 worth of extra kit for only £750 more than the standard Leon FR+. Prices for the new vehicle start at £22,530, with the Seat Leon FR+ Supercopa available to order now.
