30 April 2012
The new VW Polo R Line is priced from £15,195
VW has released its new Polo R Line. The sportier supermini adds a styling pack and boasts decent equipment as standard.
The new Polo R is priced from £15,195 and is available to order now, but customer deliveries don’t start until July.
Sportier Polo R
The Polo R Line is a sportier version of VW’s Polo supermini and gets deeper front and rear bumpers, side skirts and 16-inch alloy wheels fitted as standard. Inside, the R Line features a leather steering wheel and black cloth sports seats.
Under the bonnet is a 104bhp 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine and offers a decent balance of efficiency and performance. VW claims 53.3mpg combined with 124g/km CO2 emissions – meaning £100 annual car tax (VED) – plus 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds.

Polo R from £15,195
The three-door Polo R Line costs £15,195, rising to £15,815 for the five-door variant – that’s £3,500 more than the cheapest Polo Match models, which the R Line is based on.
The 104bhp 1.2 is not available in Match trim, however – to buy that engine in three- or five-door guise will cost you £15,575 and £16,195 respectively, highlighting the R Line’s competitive price.
