The wettest April on record sent us flocking to buy heaters and tumble dryers – with sales of electric heaters up 1000%, according to retailer Currys.
It also recorded a 100% increase in sales of tumble dryers, compared with previous years.
Which? tumble dryer expert Adrian Porter says: ‘If you’re going to buy a tumble dryer, check out our tumble dryer running costs tool – the cheapest dryer may end up costing you more in the long run. Of the 89 models we’ve looked at, running costs varied from £38 a year for gas to £131 for the least-efficient electric ones.’
Tumble dryers and portable heaters
This time last year we were buying wine coolers and digital cameras. But over this bank holiday weekend alone, sales were up 115% for tumble dryers and 886% for heaters.
