Vauxhall confirms prices for new Mokka 4x4Compact off-roader to start at £16,995
13 June 2012
Vauxhall’s rival for the Nissan Juke will start at £16,995, and is on sale now ahead of its arrival in showrooms in November.
The Vauxhall Mokka is available from £16,995
Mokka S, Exclusiv and SE specifications
The Mokka is available to order in three equipment specifications: S, Exclusiv and SE.
Equipment on the £16,995 entry-level S is good, and features a digital radio, air conditioning and cruise control.
Upgrading to Exclusiv spec costs £1,000 and adds climate control, Bluetooth, automatic headlights and wipers and an iPod connection. The range-topping SE models get part-leather heated seats, xenon headlights and privacy glass as standard.
Three engine options
The Mokka’s engine line-up comprises a choice of two petrol engines and one turbodiesel, all equipped with stop-start technology.
Mokka comes with two- or four-wheel drive
Vauxhall’s 113bhp 1.6-litre and 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engines will feature, returning 43.5mpg combined with 153g/km CO2 emissions and 44.8mpg/149g/km CO2 respectively (claimed figures). This equates to car tax of £170 for the 1.6 and £135 for the 1.4.
However, the £19,445 128bhp 1.7 turbodiesel will be the most efficient engine in the range – returning 60.1mpg and 124g/km CO2 (£100 car tax).
This performance trumps the 1.5 dCi Juke’s 57.6mpg and 129g/km CO2, although the cheapest diesel Vauxhall is £4,550 more expensive than the equivalent Nissan.
4x4 capability
The 1.4 petrol and 1.7 diesel engines are available in both two- and four-wheel drive guise, with the 1.6-litre petrol restricted to front-wheel drive only.
In normal driving, power is sent to the front wheels to help improve efficiency, but in slippery conditions as much as 50% of torque can be sent to the rear axle, improving traction.
