Apple has announced new versions of its iPod touch and iPod nano MP3 players.
The iPod touch 5th generation features a larger 4-inch screen and has been redesigned to be the lightest and thinnest version of the MP3 player, while the iPod nano also has a new design to allow it to play widescreen video.
The new products were announced alongside the new iPhone 5.
iPod Touch 5th generation
The iPod Touch 5th generation features a 4-inch screen and it has been upgraded with a new dual-core processor, camera and according to Apple it has a longer battery life of 40 hours of music playback.
The latest version is 6.1mm thick and weighs 88g, making it the lightest iPod touch Apple has released. It will be available with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage memory.
The new camera has a resolution of 5Mp and has a five element lens, which is made out of sapphire crystal, the same camera as on the iPhone 5.
Like the new iPod nano, the new iPod touch comes with Apple's latest 'EarPod' headphones. According to Apple, these have been in development for three years and provide a more comfortable experience and improved sound quality.
The iPod touch 5th generation will be available for pre-order on September 14, with the cheapest version costing £249.
New iPod Nano
The new iPod nano measures 5.4mm thick, weighs 31g and features a 2.5-inch multi-touch screen. This screen has a ratio of 16:9 and can be used to play widescreen video. The nano comes with 16GB of internal storage memory.
The new iPod nano will cost £129 and can also be pre-ordered on September 12.
Both the new iPod touch and the new iPod nano make use of Apple's new smaller Lightning connector so you will need an adaptor to connect them to accessories such as speaker docks. This adaptor is available to buy for £25.
