The VW Golf Plus is a more spacious version of the standard five-door VW Golf, benefiting from more headroom and enough space to seat three in the back in relative comfort.
The Golf Plus fits in somewhere between a full-on MPV and an estate, offering an alternative option to anyone looking for a good-sized family car. If this is what you are looking for, be sure to take a look at these great deals before you part with your money.
Over £3,000 off VW Golf Plus 1.6 diesel
The 1.6-litre diesel is our top engine choice. It offers reasonable fuel economy (VW claims 58.9mpg) and is the best option if you do a lot of motorway driving – say more than 10,000 miles a year.
We’ve found a 1.6 diesel in entry level S spec at Arnold Clark with a fantastic £3,060 discount, meaning you pay just £16,995.
VW Golf Plus 1.4 TSi for under £16,000
When it comes to petrol models you have a choice between 1.2- or 1.4-litre engines. We’d opt for the slightly larger engine, as it offers better out of town performance.
The 1.4 TSi is available in both S and SE trim. Though standard options for the S are reasonable, extras such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a convenience pack and park assist make the SE more attractive – particularly for resale.
We’ve found deals on both of these models, so you can decide which suits you best. The VW Golf Plus S is on offer at Justclick4cars for £15,995 – that’s a £2,790 saving. You’ll have to pay an extra £1,700 for the SE spec through Autobytel, however this equates to a £4,588 discount.

- The car brokers and deals featured are not vetted, endorsed or recommended by Which?. Always check the specifics of the deal so you know exactly what you are getting and who is supplying the car. Make sure all aspects of the deal are confirmed in writing before committing to buy.
- Not all brokers deal in UK-sourced vehicles, and this may have an impact on standard equipment and warranty levels.
- The term ‘pre-reg’ or ‘pre-registered’ refers to vehicles that are brand new but already registered with the DVLA. This means that you will appear as the second owner on the V5 registration document.
- Beware of unscrupulous brokers who tell you they will have to retain the V5 registration document for a period of time after your purchase of the car. Vehicles sold this way may be cheap, but there are legal implications, including the risk that you the buyer could be committing a criminal offence when you drive the car, so they should be avoided.
