Bugaboo is offering free replacement carry handles for some of its Cameleon 3 pushchairs after certain batches were feared to be potentially dangerous.
Reports from some parents and follow-up tests from Bugaboo found that the carry handle connectors broke, meaning that the Cameleon 3 carrycot or seat could potentially be dropped, although no injuries have been reported.
Bugaboo Cameleon 3 carry handle problem
Not all Cameleon 3 pushchairs are affected, only ones with the serial numbers below:
S/N 190101115300001 to S/N 190105124800215.
To find the serial number, look at the bar beneath the carrycot.
If you are affected, contact Bugaboo for a free replacement handle by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, calling 0800 587 8265, or registering on the Bugaboo website.
Bugaboo says that a replacement carry handle, along with fitting instructions, will arrive within three weeks.
In the meantime, owners have been advised to remove the handle and use the Cameleon 3 without it. Bugaboo says this is safe to do, although it recommends that the pushchair’s safety harness is used.

Bugaboo pushchair issues
This is the latest Bugaboo pushchair to be affected by safety concerns. Certain batches of the original Cameleon and Donkey pushchairs had replacement handles issued in December last year.
Back in autumn 2011, Bugaboo identified a problem with the wheels on Bee pushchairs made between January and September 2011. Make sure you don’t have an affected pushchair by taking a look at our Bugaboo Bee wheel safety Q&A.
