Thousands of holidaymakers booked on the first UK flights of the Dreamliner will be left disappointed after Thomson Airways announced they’ve grounded the flights.
Passengers who were due to fly on the Dreamliner flights are all being switched to other planes.
Thomson was due to start Dreamliner flights in May, but all the planes have been grounded worldwide as manufacturer Boeing investigates safety concerns.
Thomson today said it still had no delivery schedule from Boeing so it had to make other plans.
The move is a blow for Thomson, which was the first UK airline due to fly the Dreamliner and was hoping the aircraft would dramatically improve its customer’s flying experience.

Thomson Dreamliner refunds
It’s also a blow for customers, some of whom had booked holidays specifically to experience the Dreamliner.
Thomson said today it would waive its normal amendment fees for customers booked on the Dreamliner for May and June who wanted to change their holiday booking.
This includes customers who stick with the same holiday but change dates to within four days of their original departure, or change airports.
It also covers customers who switch their holiday to an alternative within Thomson’s mainstream programme.
Thomson Dreamliner cancellations
All customers booked on the Dreamliner in May and June will get a refund of the £20 return supplement added to Dreamliner tickets.
Customers who were booked on premium cabins in the Dreamliner will have an extra £80 refunded.
Thomson did not immediately say what the policy would be for customers who wanted to cancel their holiday completely.

Thomson has set up a dedicated telephone line on 0800 0723 829 for people who booked directly with Thomson or First Choice.
It said the same policy on refunds and amendments applied to customers who booked through travel agents, but they should speak to their agent about their options.
