Which? reveals latest toaster testing resultsDiscover the best toaster, and avoid the Don't Buy

06 July 2013

Set yourself up for the day with a decent breakfast and great toast from the best toaster. We've tested 10 of the latest models - and discovered one to avoid.

A great toaster will deliver evenly toasted, golden brown toast again and again. But not all toasters are the same, and our tough testing keeps revealing toasters that don't perform well enough to be crowned Best Buys.

The worst toasters struggle to fit a wide range of bread sizes, and make toast that's patchy, stripy and uneven. And sometimes even burnt.

Which? members can find full test results and reviews for over 200 colourful 2 slice and 4 slice toasters in our toasters reviews.

Cheap toasters

Our latest testing covers models from as little as £10, but if you think you're getting a bargain - think again. One cheap toaster performed so badly, scoring less than 40%, we've made it a Don't Buy.

This toaster is guilty of multiple toasting sins. It toasts unevenly, delivering rounds of toast that are stripy and almost like patchwork in appearance. Our experts struggled to get anything remotely evenly toasted.

A quick toaster will take less than two and a half minutes, but this one takes around three and a half minutes to toast - which is on the longer side of average.
