Looking for a cheap tumble dryer with heat pump technology? We’ve found the Zanussi ZTH485 condenser dryer for just £399.99, reduced from £469.99, at Currys.
The Zanussi ZTH485 is a condenser tumble dryer that uses heat pump technology to re-circulate warm air into the drum, reducing the energy needed to dry your laundry. With a 7kg capacity and AutoSense+ system which should stop the cycle once the load is dry, it sounds like the ideal tumble dryer – but only our test results can tell you whether it really works.

How Which? tests tumble dryers
Tumble dryers might all look pretty similar but there can be huge differences in how good they are at drying and how much they cost to run. In our rigorous lab tests we assess:
- Drying time and programs – some tumble dryers can dry clothes twice as quickly as others. We test how long they take, looking at four different programs to get a broader sense of just how good – or bad – the tumble dryer is.
- Energy use and running costs – it’s no use buying a super-cheap tumble dryer if it costs the earth to run. We award every tumble dryer a star rating for efficiency and calculate how much it will add to your energy bills each year.
- Evenness of drying – some tumble dryers will get half of a load perfectly dry and leave the other half damp. We weigh up to 23 individual items of clothing before and after the cotton iron dry cycle to determine how evenly the load has dried.
