Five new tumble dryers from Hotpoint and Siemens have been tested and rated by Which? – and one model impressed us so much with speedy and effective drying that we’ve awarded it our Best Buy recommendation.
But is the new Best Buy a pricey Siemens model, or could you bag yourself a bargain with one of the cheaper Hotpoint dryers?
Our Best Buy tumble dryer reviews reveal all.
Expensive vs cheap tumble dryers
The Hotpoint TVM570P (£180) was the cheapest model on test, costing £429 less than the Siemens WT46W381GB (£629).
While the cheaper Hotpoint is a simple, no-frills dryer, the Siemens WT46W381GB comes with a few extras, such as a self-cleaning condenser and an automatic sensor that detects when your clothes are dry, to remove some of the hassle that comes with using a tumble dryer.
Our tough tests cut through the hype about the extras and assessed how good the tumble dryers are at their basic business of drying clothes quickly, evenly and without leaving too many creases. Previous Which? group tests have shown that there’s no direct link between price and quality – so don’t think you have to shell out for a brilliant model.
