Best steam iron features
Which? irons expert Jess O’Leary says: ‘Pricier irons tend to offer more powerful steam, as typically, the more steam that’s blasted at creases the quicker and easier you’ll find ironing.
‘But this is only one part of the equation: equally important is a soleplate that glides effortlessly over fabrics so you don’t have to put your back into the job.
‘Most models have scale filters to keep limescale at bay and anti-drip features to help prevent water drops forming in steam when you’re ironing at low temperatures, which can stain clothes.
‘Other top features include an auto shut-off function – where the iron switches itself off if it’s not used for a while – and easy-to-use features, such as a comfortable handle and being able to see the water level in the water tank.’
