Ever bashed your legs on your stair gate when getting up to your baby in the middle of the night? Munchkin has come up with a clever fix to safeguard your shins.
The yet-to-be-released Munchkin Luna stair gate uses a sensor LED light fixed to the cross stud to illuminate your floor in the dark when someone approaches the gate.
The stair gate isn’t on sale yet but we got a sneak preview of it at the recent international baby and child trade show, Kind und Jugend in Cologne, where it won an Innovation award for baby safety.
The jury praised the stair gate’s ‘reduced modern design,’ – the gate itself certainly looks slick, and we think the addition of the light is a clever idea in a product category with not much scope for elaborate innovation.
Stair gate reviews
Stair gates have been consistently voted by parents in our Which? surveys as one of the most useful baby products on the market, but they’re no use if you’ve got a dud.
We test our stair gates for strength and durability by applying repeated force from a 10kg weight (the approximate weight of an average one year old) and then with a 25kg weight to simulate pressure from older children. We also rate the gates on how easy they are to install and use.
We’ve recently tested stair gates and have found two Best Buys.
If your little one is beginning to crawl and move about on his or her own, head to our stair gate reviews to get the safest one for your baby.
