This week we’ve reviewed three of the latest Mercedes SUVs – the GLC, GLE coupe and GLA – but did any of them have what it takes to be a Best Buy?
We’ve also tested the latest BMW 7 Series and the BMW 650i M Sport with its monstrous V8 engine – read our review to see if its mpg suffers as a result. Plus, we’ve also taken a first drive of the latest Mazda MX-5 – an update to a classic.

Mercedes-Benz GLC (2015-) 4×4 – new model
Mercedes finally has a compact SUV to compete with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5. The GLC is certainly capable of standing toe to toe with its rivals thanks to the four-wheel drive and nine-speed automatic gearbox, but the GLC will need to do something special to break the dominance of BMW and Audi in the compact SUV category.
Read our Mercedes-Benz GLC review to see whether the comfort we’ve come to expect from Mercedes is enough for the GLC to get a foothold in the compact SUV arena.
BMW 650i M Sport
With its powerful V8 engine the 650i M Sport is no slouch when it comes to speed and acceleration, but is the hit to mpg worth it? Or will the less greedy six-cylinder and diesel models be better options?
Read our BMW 650i M Sport review to see how it scored in our tests.
Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe (2015-) 4×4 – new model
The GLE is the latest Mercedes SUV to get the sport treatment with a sloping roof and attractive curves. But at £4,500 more than the standard GLE has Mercedes done enough to convince us that this is the version to go for?
Our Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe review looks past the stylish exterior and tells you whether it’s worth your money.
Mercedes-Benz GLA (2014-) 4×4 – new model
Rounding off this week’s stream of Mercedes SUVs is the smallest of the bunch, the crossover GLA. The GLA offers the increased ride height that makes crossovers so desirable, but once again Mercedes will face stiff competition from BMW and Audi, whose X1 and Q3 are the cars to beat.
Can the GLA rise above its Mercedes A-Class roots? Read our Mercedes-Benz GLA review to find out.
