The best steam mops make light work of getting your floors clean

Best Buy steam cleaners need to excel in our tough cleaning tests, as well as being easy to use. We’ve found three new steam mops that do just that – but also uncovered two terrible models to avoid.

Steam cleaners from Vax, Hoover, Morphy Richards, Russell Hobbs and more went head-to-head in our latest test. Models reviewed include a £70 steam mop from Vax, a pricey two-in-one steam cleaner from Morphy Richards which comes with a huge range of tools, and a budget mop costing just £29.

We found some steam mops that failed to effectively clean everyday dirt from floors, or didn’t stand up to repeated use, so it’s worth reading our reviews to avoid disappointment and find out which steam cleaners won’t let you down.

Find the best steam mop for you whatever your budget by looking at our Best Buy steam cleaners.

Cheap steam cleaners

You don’t need to spend a lot to get a decent steam cleaner. We found a Best Buy two-in-one steam mop that costs less than £55, and excels at mopping up muddy footprints – perfect for when the summer weather doesn’t live up to expectation.

We’ve also discovered budget two-in-one steam mops with brilliant handheld steamers. From soap-scum encrusted tiles to grimy glass, our Best Buys will help you to get even the most awkward corners of your home squeaky clean.

But it’s not all good news for budget steam mops. One of the models we tested was so poor at cleaning we named it a Don’t Buy. Visit our steam cleaner reviews to find out which cheap models are worth snapping up.

Get the best from your steam mop

From murky sinks to sticky drink spills, grimy windows to muddy boot prints, the best two-in-one steam mops can make light work of unpleasant cleaning tasks.

To clean effectively into small spaces, such as around taps or into cracks, you’ll need a nozzle attachment with a small hole that can deliver a strong blast of steam. If you’re constantly battling against pets’ muddy pawprints, look for a mop that heats up fast so you’re never more than seconds away from a quick clean-up.

Our independent tests examine all of these things, plus how easy each steam mop is to use and whether it can stand up to repeated use without steam output dropping. Find out more about the lengths we go to when testing steam cleaners.
